Find a simple guide for repatriation back to Singapore
Parties Involved:
C1 - Country to repatriate body from
C2 - Singapore
1. Hospital at C1
2. Embassy in C1
3. Police or authority who issues the local death certificate in C1
4. Funeral Company in C1
5. Airline from C1
6. Funeral Company in C2
This would be the sequence:
1. Let the police (3) and hospital (1) do what they need to first
2. Reach out to the embassy (2)
3. Choose a funeral company (4) on the embassy's list
4. Funeral Co (4) will make the booking with the airline (5), and takeover from the hospital (1) to do the necessary prep and documentation for Singapore Funeral Co (6)
If not sure I can communicate with the funeral Company (4) once the family has chosen one
5. Singapore Funeral Co (6) will apply the necessary permits and receive from the airline in Singapore
If they have travel insurance, you can also inform the insurer, they will reimburse whatever arrangements the family makes.
Documents to Prepare:
1. Doctor Letter no infectious disease - from C1 Mortuary (1)
2. Letter of Authorisation - C1 Funeral Co (4) provide for family to sign
3. Death Certificate by Mortuary/Hospital (1)
4. Original Loved One's Passport - Family to pass to C1 Funeral Co (4)
5. Photocopy of next-of-kin's Passport - Family to provide C1 Funeral Co (4)
6. Consignee details - from C2 Funeral Co (6)
7. Cremation address - from C2 Funeral Co (6)
8. Sealing Cert - from C1 Funeral Co (4)
9. Embalming Cert - from C1 Funeral Co (4)
10. Singapore Embassy Letter to allow repatriation - C1 Singapore Embassy (2)
11. C1 Export permit - from C1 Funeral Co (4)
12. Airway Bill - from C1 Funeral Co (4) / C1 Airline (5)
